Situations where I can help

Some clients come to me with a new application to build; others have a system they rely on that needs attention. Either way, they want someone experienced to take care of it.

  • You need a new custom software application built from scratch. I can take on the whole project: working out the requirements, designing the database, and building, testing and deploying the application.
  • Your original developer is no longer available. I can get to know the code and the database, keep the system running and take over its maintenance.
  • Your business runs on an older application that needs updates. Changes, fixes and compatibility work on systems that are still doing an important job.
  • SQL queries or reports are slow or unreliable. I find out where the time goes and why the numbers don't add up, then fix the cause.
  • You need to connect your software to another system or API. Payment providers, CRMs, accounting tools, partner systems or your own applications.
  • Recurring bugs are hard to pin down. Careful diagnosis of problems that come and go, across the code, the database and the server.
  • You need more development capacity without hiring. An experienced developer for a project, a busy period or a few hours a month.
  • You want to modernize without replacing everything at once. Gradual improvements that keep the business running while the system moves forward.

The need
A biotech company needed a long-term technical partner for its public website and the internal backend system its staff use every day.
What I do

Custom database application

Jerusalem Consulting Group: registration and database system

The need
Registration for fundraising conferences, a foundation database, and newsletters and documents for registered users.
What I built
Custom registration and database applications with a backend where staff manage registrants, newsletters and documents, including automated exports to their newsletters.
The result
The client could manage all this data efficiently in-house.

Secure client portal

MSHALPERN CPA: client document portal

The need
An accounting firm wanted clients to log in and download their tax documents securely, instead of receiving them by post or email.
What I built
A secure portal: the firm uploads documents through a backend, and clients log in and filter their files by year and document type.
The result
Documents are delivered without postal or email distribution.
